Can any breed of dogs come along?
Although Yorkshire Husky Meets was originally formed to help Huskies to socialise we now allow any breed medium to or large breeds to attend our meets. The only thing we ask it that all dogs no matter what breed are kept on a lead at all times during and after the meet.
I'm not in Yorkshire but I still want to join a meet?
You don't have to be from or live in the Yorkshire area to attend our meets, we have members from places such as Nottingham, Derby, Manchester and Lincoln that attend our meets regularly.
How long do your meets last?
On average our Mini Meets last around 2 to 3 hours depending on the amount of members attending; larger meets generally take longer. Our monthly Main Meets range from 5-6 hours as we make it a day out. Due to the meet's location most members will have travelled a long distance.
Are your meets children or pushchair friendly?
We try our best to find suitable meet locations that are pushchair friendly but sometimes there may be stiles or kissing gate obstructions. In the winter paths get water logged and very muddy. We always advertise on the events if this is the case and there is always someone on hand to assist lifting.
Where are your meets held?

We try to arrange our meets in places that are of interest such as local woods and forests, country parks, dales, moors, canal walks, local reservoirs etc. We never have Husky Meets in local parks that are too busy with people, children and off lead dogs.
Is my dog ok to be off the lead on the walk?

Unfortunately all dogs no matter what breed they are must always be on a lead and the owner must be in full control throughout the meet. This includes at the end, when we generally go for refreshments. This is due to satisfy our public liability insurance cover conditions and to avoid any unnecessary aggression or stress to the dogs on leads.
My dog is really noisy and loud around other dogs is this normal?

Yes, it is perfectly normal for your dog to behave like this, it is all exciting for them meeting new dogs and people, all they generally want to do is have a sniff and play. Don't be put off when you arrive at a meet and it looks like all the dogs are being loud and aggressive, they will all calm down once they start walking. If you still feel nervous speak to any of the staff or members and they will be more than happy to help you.
